If it is a small fracture without any impairment of vision, then it often can just be watched. If it is a bigger fracture, it can lead to sagging of the eye in the socket and vision problems and would need surgical repair.

Swelling/Irritation: After surgery for an orbital fracture, most patients will experience swelling, bruising, and irritation.  These are typically short lived.  Because these surgeries involve work around delicate structures of the eye, your surgeon will likely follow you closely initially to make sure there is not a reduction of vision as this may suggest compromise to the blood supply to the eye.

You should be checked out by your eye md if you have any vision issues and see a ENT or plastic surgeon that treats facial fractures.

Depends: If the fracture is small then it is a one day surgery where you can go home later that same day.  If it is a large fracture or other structures are affected then you may be in the hospital for a few days or longer.   It really depends on the extent of the fracture.

Thats serious: The only way to know is by xray or ct scan of skull/face. However, a clue is having an injury to the eye or nearby face, followed by double vision or seeing the eyes not tracking together. Unlike sturdy bones of rest of face, orbital bones are almost paper thin. Under extreme force can "blow out", then the fracture captures the lower eye muscle causing one eye to get "stuck" in certain positions.

Common: Surgery has been done on an area of your body, the orbit, which is richly innervated with pain and other sensory fibers.  These were disturbed in the injury and in the surgery and it will take a little while for it to feel normal.  Your surgeon has probably prescribed something to deal with moderate pain, but if the pain is excruciating, contact the surgeon.

Not normal: If you have an orbital fracture and now you are seeing double (diplopia) then you probably have an entrapped eye muscle.  You need to see an Ear/Nose/Throat doctor as soon as possible.

No: Most likely not.  Numbness is most likely due to involvement of the infraorbital nerve, which provides sensation to the front part of your cheek.  Depending on when your injury took place, will most likely resolve with tincture of time, though some folks will always have some area of numbness.
