Throbbing: Throbbing in your ear may be due to  pulsations  caused by blood vessels passing near your ear.

Sx's outside o brain: So, unrelated to brain.

On the other hand, without an exam, I can only give general information, but phlegm and cough can be a sign of beginning pneumonia if they continue. Scary risky if someone's immune system is gone in context of serious chemotherapy/radiation.

good day, since 1:30 am i all of a sudden got a severe pain in my one ear so badly i couldnt sleep anymore. pressure makes it feel slightly better but it feels like the suction pressure causes makes it hurt badly to release pressure. i feel nauseas.

Ear pain: That type of ear pain is characteristic of an inflamed/infected ear drum. A physician should examine your ear for diagnosis and treatment. In the meantime apply warm compress to the ear and take Tylenol or, if you can,  ibuprofen or naproxen which may not be advisable in view of nausea.

Yes: Try to figure out what foods or ingredients that may be causing this and either remove them from your diet or simply taking a zyrtec or Claritin (loratadine) may help out. It may also be eustachian tube dysfunction.

when i am in a car, if i(or someone else) closes the door suddenly i get pressure pain in one ear. however, if i leave a window open and then close the door it doesn't bother me. thoughts?

: There may be a perforation of the ear drum in that ear from an old ear infection or from some type of trauma. A physician or ENT specialist would have to exam your ear with an otoscope in order to visualize the ear drum. I recommend the specialist in case wax needs to be removed in order to get a good look at the drum.

Con't tell until: you  are examined , including your hearing tests are done ,call your doctor  refer you to a specialist, delay in treatment may even result into permanent deafness .Take care of it quickly

Has : Has he tried to plug his nose and blow to gently push air into the ear?  Divers will do this to protect the ears as they go deeper under water.  These symptoms should resolve but may take a prolonged time.  Occasionally otc decongestants can be used (these should be avoided if you have high blood pressure).  Afrin (oxymetazoline) may help but only use it for 3 days.  Some doctors may try steroid pills for difficult cases.  The idea is to decrease the inflammation in the eustachian tube so the ear pressures can equalize.  If all else fails, the symptoms remain bad or if fluid builds up in the ear and does not clear, then an ENT doctor may recommend an ear tube.

Eustachian tube issu: The pressure you likely feel relates to poor function in your Eustachian tubes during this process. The tube drains middle ear mucous and allows air to enter during normal function. To have the infection,tube swelling trapped mucous which became infected from throat germs. Yawning can sometimes help reopen the tube and allow pressure to equalize in the good ear.In time all should heal.

chronic dizziness following a cold. also have pressure/discomfort in one ear, but the ent says no fluid there. what could cause that if there isnt fluid?

Ear pressure: I suspect blockage of the eustachian tube which connects the back of the nasal canal to the middle ear. This can cause vertigo, imbalance or other types of dizziness. If that nasal passage feels congested, irrigate it gently with clean warm salt water or spray the canal with a nasal decongestant spray to shrink the congested nasal membrane.
