1 vs 4 pills: no difference, but at your age I would be very concerned about such a high dose doe to potential kidney damage and other problems like ulcers in your stomach and bowel with bleeding and perforations.  Please talk to your doctor about alternative medicine with less potential risks

Switch : Your physician should change to another nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, or a combination to reduce the risk of worsening the renal function.  remember all drugs have side effects and adverse reactions but in the setting of chronic kidney disease, the optimal anti-inflammatory drugs are the ones that don't damage the kidneys and adjust the dose to the optimal effect.

i take piroxicam daily for arthritis, i have a headache, would it be ok to take ibuprofen or acetaminophen? thanks!

See details: I am not a fan of piroxicam as it is an NSAID with fairly high risk of side effects. I would consult with a rheumatologist about your arthritis. You can take acetaminophen with piroxicam but I would not take another NSAID such as ibuprofen. That just increases side effect risk.

the only otc med that helps pain in my knee is ibuprofen.. but it is too rough on my stomach. what are my options? i'm in so much pain. (arthritis?)

See details: Hold the Ibuprofen for 1 week, start Prilosec 1 tab daily immediately. After a week try to restart the Ibuprofen and stop it immediately if GI issues return.

i have had rheumatoid arthritis for 10 years and my foot on side when applied pressure has extreme pain. will ice or heat work? and will ibuprofen?

Ice: Start with ice. Even ok to do some trial and error with heat as well, and go with whatever combination works best. Just 10-15' each time, 2-3 times per day . Regarding medications, its very hard to say what will work or not. I would avoid naprosyn (naproxen) if you are on steroids. As always, ask you doctor to find out for sure, he/she will know your current medications. Hope this helps!

62yr male w/gerd & arthritis. 1 dr said take arthrotec, another said arthrotec was hard on kidneys & liver & to take advil (ibuprofen) with maloxx. please advise.

Different suggestion: Misoprostil and diclofenac are the active ingredients in Arthrotec (diclofenac and misoprostol). Diclofenac is the NSAID for arthritis and misoprostil is used to prevent NSAID  ulcers. Studies show short term protection is about equal for misoprostil and omrprazole, but misoprostil has a higher relapse rate and more side effects. Maalox reduces heartburn but does not protect from ulcers, so your NSAID plus Omeprazole best.

i have mild foot arthritis & take ibuprofen for it. occasionally i get 1 splinter hemorrhage on 1 fingernail. can nsaids cause splinter hemorrhages?

Poorly fitted shoes: Cause could be poorly fitted shoes , see your podiatric  physician ( DPM ) with better fitted shoes along with arches will improve your gait and  you feel better

i have arthritis in my knees as well as water on my left knee. i was told to keep it wrapped and use and ibuprofen/tylenol if necessary. how long should it take for water on the knee to go away? im also in physical therapy?

: First at your age to have arthritis is unusual .  You could have a biomechanical Malalignment having a large Q- angle and thus disfunction of the knee cap or patella. A problem you probably have had most of your life and difficult to participate in sports. A podiatrist trained in biomechanics can prescribe a custom orthotic that will help when ambulating.
