numbness in my left chest/pectoral area, around armpit and breast. no other symptoms, no lumps on breast. has been going on for 2 weeks. usually happens at night. what could it be?

i have been feeling numbness around my left ribs and chest area for over a week, it is only really noticeable when i am changing my shirt or touch that part. i don't know what caused it, as i didn't physically hurt myself there?

Sprain: Since your pain is reproducible on palpating
It’s likely musculoskeletal 
.icing and OTC analgesics will help if there is no contraindications.

Chest Pain: Cardiac causes would be unusual but not unheard of in patients of your age.  The cause does need to be found or at least serious causes ruled out.  Sounds like this has been going on for awhile.  I suggest you start with your doc and go from there.

Obstructive Sleep: Apnea is a condition of cessation of breathing during sleep that lasts for 10 seconds or longer. OSA should first be confirmed with the proper medical sleep studies. Regardless, the cause, could be only muscle pain or anxiety. However, pain in your chest with the symptoms you have described is a serious medical condition. It is always a red flag and appointment with your PCP or cardiologist.

Chest pain: Heart attacks can mimic-abdominal/epigastric pain, pain radiating to the back or chin. Sometimes they can have vomiting  in addition to abdominal pain. You may have none of these but better get checked.

Certainly: It certainly could be costochondritis - stress, viral infections, muscle pulls can all cause this condition and it is very painful at times.  As long as it has been shown that your heart and lungs are normal then I would suggest seeing a chiropractor for treatment.  NSAIDs also are helpful.  It is also possible that you are having esophageal problems - talk to your FP about that as well.
