Behavior changes: Behavior changes may be due to post-concussive syndrome, i recommend you visit with a physician and make sure to mention what type of behavior changes you have as well as your other symptoms.  It might actually help to have a friend/family member with you who may be able to describe the behavior changes better than yourself.

Spontaneously ?: Left side of your body? Just your face? Is this after a dental procedure or an extraction? Have you seen a dentist? You need to be evaluated immediately by a dentist for an infection if it is just your mouth and tongue, and immediatelt by an er physician if your body is numb.

Benzocaine: There is a host of topical anesthetics for oral numbing. Orajel is a popular one but there are many others. Go to you your  local pharmacy or supermarket and see what is available. What are you using it for and do you need to see a dentist?

Nerve dysfunction: you need seen right away, preferrably by a neurologist.  You more than likely have a condition known as glossopharyngeal neuralgia, inflamation of the nerve providing sensation to the inside of your throat and tongue which is more than likely due to a virus.  this is treatable.  storke unlikely with symptoms this isolated, but need to rule it out.

i have suddenly developed numbness on the bottom of my tongue and on the soft tissue directly under it in my mouth. is this something neurological?

Possibly: This area is innervated by a branch of the lingual nerve which also delivers sensation from that side of the tongue.  If the top surface of the tongue isn't involved then the entire nerve isn't involved. I think i would watch it for a couple weeks but see md if the numbness progresses or fails to improve.

See your dentist: The medications you mentioned are the few you can buy without a prescription.  If you are having mouth pain you should see your dentist for advice.
