Benzocaine: There is a host of topical anesthetics for oral numbing. Orajel is a popular one but there are many others. Go to you your local pharmacy or supermarket and see what is available. What are you using it for and do you need to see a dentist?

A 38-year-old member asked:

Does taking two different medications make you feel a funny feeling in mouth and tongue?

Depends: It entirely depends on what medications you've taken. I'm a little hard pressed to think of what two meds might cause those symptoms when taken together however. Always check with your doctor before taking more than one medication at a time. If you are taking over-the-counter medication sometimes you can call the manufacturer to ask them questions about it.

Nature can heal it: A painful mouth sore on a place inside the mouth, is called a canker sore or an aphthous ulcer. There is medicine to put on it for pain and inflammation, but the medicine doesn't heal it up faster. Some medicines need a prescription; some are otc. It may take 5-7 days to heal. A doctor should check if there are many or repeated ulcers, or possible sexually transmitted diseases.

Probably not: As long as they are not painful, or growing. Thet usually are minor salivary glands and are normal.
