hi, i was diagnosed with plantar facitiis i was just wondering if it's normal for this to case extreme pain on the top of my foot &cause numb toes?

Accepted Answer

No: usually pain is on the bottom of your heel especially with early fort morning step. Top of the foot is not usual pain for plantar fasciitis.  You need further investigation and treatment. Please see you foot doctor. Could be compensation effect.

Neuroma: There are nerves that run between your metatarsal bones. You can develop growth on the nerve called neuroma. X-rays and us is needed to correctly diagnose. Other causes can be tarsal tunnel syndrome, sesamoid fracture and bunion deformity. You should see a podiatrists to correct diagnosis and treatment options.

Neuropathy/neuroma: If your entire foot is going numb – involving all of your toes, this may be a form of compressive neuropathy involving pressure over the top of your foot – commonly related to how your shoelaces are laced if you're a runner. If you have a burning pain and associated numbness between the third and fourth toe, this is commonly an interdigital neuroma; activity modification, injection, surgery.

Neuropathy: There are a number of potential causes, I would encourage you to be seen.  An exam and possibly a nerve conduction test will likely determine the cause.  Among the more common causes is a "pinched nerve" in the spine or a neuropathy.  Don't hesitate to be seen.

Neuroma: If there is pain, numbness localized to 3rd-4th toes--podiatrist search for morton neuroma--but crowding the toes in tight shoe cause nerve compression in runners----other causes include tarsal tunnel, other generalized neuropathy--need good hx and exam and electrodiagnostic studies.

can an l5-s1 herniation cause numb toes in right foot? just the toes, not the foot or leg.

Yes: S-1 compression can cause numbness in the toes and sole of the foot. L-5 compression can cause numbness in the anterior lateral aspect of the shin and posterior ankle region. There are specific exercises you can do to possibly alleviate the compression!  Check with your doctor for a Physical Therapist consultation.

i have sore numb toes on both feet. i'm told its from  trapped nerve in my back. just wondering could l be a diabetic but have no symptoms?

Numbness feet: Ok see your GP for blood test. Usually it takes 15-20 yr for diabetic neuropathy to set in if the blood sugars are not well controlled . Discuss with GP please

?metatarsalgia: Metatarsalgia is a condition associated with significant pain and inflammation in the ball of your foot. Symptoms can also be associated with numbness and tingling. Foot pain, numbness, and tingling can be associated with neuropathy as well as other conditions. Discuss with your physician.

Talk to ortho: You need to consult an orthopedic surgery specialized in spine to find out what can be done about the pinched nerve. Surgery may help in many cases.
