Why do you ask?: You are of course talking about percentages of either all white blood cells or of lymphocytes. This question does not arise in general clinical medicine, and if someone has offered this to you without a strong suspicion of immunodeficiency or leukemia, you need to insist on an explanation. And in such workups, the search is either for a mutant clone or a grave deficiency; percentages are moot.

CD4 and CD3: It will be good to know why they were checked in the first place as these are not routine lab test.

In any case if you have "good humoral and T cell function" there is nothing to worry about with those numbers.

Reason for doing it: What was the reason you got this done. In all patients we don't do T cell count, Immunoglobulin level estimation etc. What were your symptoms. Based on your answerc an give a better explanation. In any patient we do CBC- complete blood count with differential  count.Only in people with suspected immunodeficiencies/hematological problems-dyscrasias is the term we use, detailed Tcell,B cell ,Ig done

HIV concerns: You're reporting an excellent CD4 count... But you do have to be careful out there in the world.  Infections of all kinds are waiting to make us sick - we should be smart about protecting ourselves AND protecting others. Yes, there are very good treatments out there now for HIV, but who wants to take meds for the rest of their life? I highly recommend talking to partners &amp; being safe all the time!

: Yes, indeed:  entirely healthy people can have such results. Why was CD4/CD8 testing done? Its main use is to evaluate cell-mediated immunity in people with other medical conditions; it is not recommended and rarely if ever done in outwardly healthy people. The most common use is to judge immune function in people with HIV, but in that setting is appropriate only when HIV testing is positive.

Good question: If your concern is HIV infection, then you will need to practice safe sex else this will be a recurring concern.  If you are still feeling unwell, perhaps there are other conditions other than AIDS that's causing the problem.

cd8 is another subtype of t-cell known as "killer t-cells" (cd8 cells also express cd3).
