Normal: The general rule of thumb is birth weight should double by 6 months and triple by 1 year, your daughter is on track.  Many pediatricians debate over when to add foods in to the diet, my rule with my own kids was that if they could swallow it easily off of a spoon  then i would feed it to them. Regular diet: Your son should eat a regular, balnced diet with fruits and vegetables.  If he is a picky eater, supplement his diet with a nutritional supplement like Ensure.  Although he is on the smaller side, do not feed him a diet of greasy, fatty foods.

WEIGHT LOSS....?: Her weight looks within normal limit. Poor weight gain with temporary decrease of appetite is common in infants. Most common cause of weight loss is recurrent viral infections, diarrhea, poor oral intake at this age. Birth weight doubles in 4 months and triples in one year. If she is not sick, not to worry.

No: Weight gain should be three times birth weight by the time baby is one year old. And then increase at a slower rate. However premies and lbw babies tend to gain more weight in first year. Either way, your baby is not gaining weight the way she is supposed to be. See her pediatrician. She needs work up to investigate.

Breast milk : Is best.  Your daughter is at the 2nd percentile for weight now after having been at about the 30th percentile at birth .  This warrants a visit to your pediatrician to determine if there is a problem .  At four months she should have a well baby exam during which her growth will be evaluated and she will receive important vaccines .

Talk to your doctor: Have you talked to a doctor and see where your baby is on the growth chart? What's normal depends on parents' stature as well. If the doctor thinks you need to supplement with formula (if breastfeeding) then do it. However, my son was always small and adding formula did not help. I just learn to live with him being smaller than his peer.

my daughter has13 months with chd and she is 6 months post glenn shunt. her birth weight was 3.6 kg and now she is 7.9kg. iis it normal? what can i do?

Low for age: Her current weight is below the 5% for age, but she has a cyanotic heart condition (blue baby) which can cause growth delay. The glenn shunt is usually a palliative (temporary) procedure and she probably is scheduled for additional heart surgery. Be sure her diet is good. Children with chd often require addional calories for adequate growth. Discuss with your doctors.
