Usually 6-8 lbs.: Birth weight varies according to # of weeks of gestation and the size and ethnicity of the baby as well as other factors during pregnancy and the health of the placenta. Boys tend to weigh slightly more than girls. But, on average, a normal term baby weighs between 6 and 8 pounds.
