Low for age: Her current weight is below the 5% for age, but she has a cyanotic heart condition (blue baby) which can cause growth delay. The glenn shunt is usually a palliative (temporary) procedure and she probably is scheduled for additional heart surgery. Be sure her diet is good. Children with chd often require addional calories for adequate growth. Discuss with your doctors.

Thanks for asking!: This is fairly common for a child with cyanotic heart disease. Although she is small, if she is growing along her own weight curve i would not be concerned. Most cardiologists work with a dietician. If yours does i would request that you can meet with the dietician to make sure that your baby is receiving an optimal amount of calories each day.

It's a bit low.: This is a bit low for her age, but if she is gaining and following an upward curve, then i wouldn't worry too much about it. Please ask her cardiologist if he or she thinks she is growing well and, if not, to see if there is some reason (e.g., heart failure from av valve or neo-aortic valve leakage) for poor growth. Also, if it’s a problem, you can work with a nutritionist.
