Unknowable: There are a lot of possibilities. It is a density in the lung identified on an x-ray or ct

for a small nodule ct scan follow up at 3-4 months early on can document any growth or change.
If enlarging-remove.
If calcifying it is likely benign and needs nothing done.
In the midwest histoplasmosis can be the cause of single or multiple such findings.

It is a small: lung mass.  There are benign and potentially malignant causes.  Whether it needs workup  depends on its imaging features and your clinical history.  Sometimes a biopsy is necessary to determine what it is, other times it can be safely followed or ignored.  The presence of calcification is important because most of the time a calcified nodule is benign.

Multiple causes: Non calcified nodules can be caused by infection, inflammation or possibly cancer. Depending on the size of the nodule and your personal history for risk factors it can be either biopsied or followed over a period of time. As the possibilities are diverse, please follow up with your physician to determine the best course of action.

The radiologist is: not sure what to make of this small nodule. If it was to be calcified then it would be one thing. For example an old residual of infection. This is not calcified. This opens up many other possibilities. An old infection is still a consideration. It depends on where it is in the lung, how many and do you have an old study. It may be worthwhile waiting a short period and repeat the ct to check it

Lung granulomas: 36 F asks: Is 3 yrs long enough for 3 granulomas to calcify? Why would they still be noncalcified? 3 found in left lower lobe in lung. ANS: depends on what is causing the granuloma. Some never do. &amp; depends on what most common cause of lung granulomas in Eufaula. So the best person to ask is a chest specialist who has been practicing near Eufaula for a long time. Have that Dr examine u &amp; X-ray

Yes!!! : Lung nodules are checked every 6 months for 2 years.  If they dont change in size, they are considered stable, and annual cxr is in order. 
If it grows, it could be malignant.  6 mm to 1.2 cm is a lot of change, so see your primary care doctor for a pulmonary consultation.

Mgt.: A virtual appointment may be helpful to you and your PCP. The CT may be uploaded for review along with the scanned in report. During the visit an assessment of all your risk factors may be performed. Is there a family history of cancer?

Possible: the primary possibilities here are benign granulomatous disease or metastatic disease. You should definitely have this evaulated further to rule out metastatic malignancy. A pulmonolgist might be a good place to start.

Pulmonary nodules: It would be nice to know as what are bronchoscopic  finding, cell cytology and fungal studies reports? You have four small non calcified nodules ranging4mm to7 mm. You are 37. Any smoking history or cancer? Please stick to your pulmonary doctor who knows you well, and follow the advice. Thanks.
