i have this skin rash that just spreads out of no where. i starts itching then it turns into a scab like mark. it is not contagious. what is it?

Skin Rash: Contact dermatitis is a condition in which the skin becomes red, sore, or inflamed after direct contact with a substance. There are two kinds of contact dermatitis: irritant or allergic. Treatment is with prescription strength cortisone from your local dermatologist. Skin rashes need to be seen for a proper diagnosis.

Sound like a burn: Your symptoms are suggestive of a burn, or sunburn, as in a 1st degree burn, where you have redness and blisters but no true deep skin damage.  It is typical for a rash to clear and have blisters left over; they are tiny areas of inflammation fluid left over from the active rash process.  It sounds like it is resolving.  If it persists are recurs, you should probably see a dermatologist.

Ans: You have a few different things going on. The brown spots bay be just aging of the skin. The scanned and itchy and hair loss may be fungal. Depends where on the body. See your doctor for treatment options and go from there

It is generally not a dangerous illness, and people who have had it will continue to shed the virus intermittently for the rest of their life.  Since it is spread through the saliva, risk of transmission can be decreased by waiting until contacts are rash free, and not sharing cups, etc.

Some thoughts...: Without a picture it's very difficult to diagnose a skin condition, and what you're describing can have many different causes.  It could be a mild eczema, a fungal infection, a viral exanthem, a reaction to something you've come in contact with (a new perfume, lotion, soap), bug bites... It's a long list.  If otc Hydrocortisone or Benadryl (diphenhydramine) isn't helping, make sure to check in with your doc!

Part of life: Yeast is around us in the environment & by later infancy at least 5% of the dry weight of poo is yeast. The skin surface is resistant to yeast unless irritated or over hydrated ( like wearing diapers ). The yeast creates a rash when it takes the opportunity of a simple exposure & sets up housekeeping on irritated skin.Improvement  with rx occurs within days.

Culture: A stool,culture that is negative will prove that your son is no longer contagious. Do you know for sure it is salmonella that is the cause for his illness? A rash may indicate other illnesses. Have him checked.

can an ear infection cause a rash all over face? doctor said hes not contagious but it looks awfully like impetigo and not just an ear infection.

No...but: The germs involved in childhood ear infections are local. The germ cannot escape that space &amp; move to the face. If he truly has a blister like rash on his face there can be germs on the skin surface that trigger such an infection separate from the ear infection. If the rash is not blister like it is not impetigo.
