They might be: Cirrhosis can result in enlargement of the spleen, which traps platelets, as well as damaging the ability of the liver to make clotting factors, and both of those can result in easy and pathological bruising. Not sure why you are on both Zoloft (sertraline) and Prozac, and wonder why you aren't on beta blockers to prevent variceal bleeding. Talk to your doctor about being on 2 SSRIs and about beta blockers.

Depends: On many clinical factors. Could be decades but if signs of liver failure could be much shorter. Get follow up with a gastroenterologist or hepatologist.

Depends: Regarding his diagnosis, stage 1 is early and likely reversible with weight loss, excercise, and a good diet.   Avoiding alcohol abuse and getting vaccinated against hepatitis b is also as good idea.   It is not end-stage liver disease.  Life expectancy could be totally normal.

MCV: MCV is Hematocrit/Total RBC count and is a measure of average blood cell size. Alcoholism is a cause secondary to poor absorption or lack of intake of B12 and folate. The low B12 and folate is a deficiency that leads to enlarged cells.

If the stop drinking their prognosis will depend on their Childs classification that is residual liver function remaining, response to management and adherence to avoiding hepatotoxins and the rate of progression of disease and complications

Diagnosed on history: One factor that makes it subtle is that the liver enzymes reflect only recent drinking, fibrosis reflects long-term drinking. So it may be overdiagnosed or missed. When it decomensates, the patient will know and testing may even be moot.

Alternatively, it may never be detected, until autopsy, if one is performed.

Stop drinking: The most important thing is complete and total cessation of alcohol. In some cases, corticosteroids (predisone) may help, but only a liver specialist should make that call. Prevention of portal hypertension and bleeding with beta-blockers may also help, reduced protein in diet may be needed. There are surgeries that can reduce some complications; ultimately, if severe, transplantation is an option.
