Reversible: We use the terminology with respect to nuclear perfusion images of the heart muscle. When there is an image defect that does not fill in on follow up imaging, we call this nonreversible or fixed. It usually suggests scar of the myocardium rather than temporary decrease in blood flow to the area.

: It means the scan showed evidence of coronary heart disease with previous myocardial infarction and currently active ischemia. The fixed defect means that area can't be revived if the blockage is reopened (already scarring) and reversible defect means that area can be revived with treatment, either by medical treatment or procedure(s). : How was this discovered? Was it from a stress test? If so, even without symptoms, the cardiologist may recommend a cardiac catherization to define if there are lesions in your coronary arteries, how severe they are, whether a stent is needed, etc. A procedure like that can prevent you from having a heart attack. Cardiac ischemia: I assume you just had cardiac testing. The proceadures a nuclear medicine test. It reveals area of ischemia inadequate blood flow to inferior wall of heart. As partially reversible means probably a portion is heart attack. Remainder of area in jeopardy of injury but with agressive treatment strategy could be salvaged.

This can be a sign of a partially blocked coronary blood vessel.

Reversible defect refers to a nuclear scan “interpretation”; an area at LV apex “judged” to have ↓ed blood flow; “myocardium at risk” means risk for dying; heart attack. When blood supply is ↓ed enough to detect on a nuclear scan, arterial disease is typically very advanced &amp; EF ↓↓.

: You have heart muscle damage probably due to one or more blocked coronary arteries and might be at risk for a myocardia infarction (heart attack). A procedure to improve heart muscle blood flow might be a consideration, like angioplasty or coronary artery bypass surgery. Presumably you are in the care of a cardiologist; follow her advice. You should have: a followup visit with the cardiologist that ordered this study.  Best if you follow his/her recommendations for diagnosis and treatment given the complexity of stress testing and the difficulty in interpreting results without any clinical knowledge of the patient in question.
