Low if treated: If you have known gbs, your doctor will give you IV antibiotics during labor in order to prevent transmission of the bacteria to the baby. If for whatever reason you don't get the antibiotics, they can do tests on the baby to evaluate for infection. The baby will need to be watched closely for 48 hours, as most infections show up in that time.

Best ask your doc: In general a flight is not a problem for women this early in pregnancy. However, with your other issues, you should have a working understanding of what you should do if problems arise while you are away from your regular source of care.

Related terms: Neutropenia refers to low numbers of a type of white blood cells called neutrophils. Pancytopenia refers to low numbers of white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets. Pancytopenic patients are therefore usually neutropenic but the reverse is not always true.

Low neutrophils: Let's break the word down into its parts. Neutrophils are the most important bacteria-fighting cell. "~penia" means lack of something in the blood. Neutro + penia means you do not have a normal number of infection-fighting neutrophils, and are at risk of infection. Another "penia" might be thrombocytopenia, which is not enough platelets (which help our blood clot)

See below: When the neutrophil count is less than 1.2 k/ul it is absolute neutropenia and the person is at risk for infections.
Eosinophils are 2-3% of the total white blood cells, however, if the total white blood cell count is low eosinophil content appear to be increased, i.e., relative increase or relative eosinophilia.  This is not significant, but the low white blood cell count may be serious.
