are hsv1 & 2 igg conclusive after 7 wks of poss exposure? i tested negative at 7 wks. showed some early nerve pain symptoms, chapped lips... no sores no rashes etc. i've been told they are conclusive but then read may not be. please help clearify?

Inconclusive: The sensitivity of serologic testing for detection of HSV-2 (IgG antibody) vary from 90- to 100%, which means this test may result in false negative in up to 10% of infected patients.  I would repeat the test.

dx with hashimoto's (8yrs), mast cell (mcas) over the last year or so and my symptoms are worsening. major food sensitivities, chronic fatigue, chronic anemia,joint/nerve pain, rashes. recent tpo 2053 and antithyro 1.21. should i be concerned?

: I can see a need for you to be followed and advised by an allergist, rheumatologist &amp; endocrinologist. Your Hashimoto's thyroiditis should be the easiest of the 3 conditions to control. Avoiding severe allergic reactions is important. I'm sure you've learned the list of foods with high histamine contents such as nuts,seafoods,wheat,etc, as well as other triggers. Has lupus been diagnosed?

Accepted Answer

Unlikely: Some form of rash or sores should be present for shingles.  You may have trigeminal neuralgia. This is a pain condition that usually presents with brief episodes of pain along the course of the Trigeminal Nerve or one its branches or divisions. It can be very painful-similar to a post-herpetic neuralgia.

: You don't mention whether you had any symptoms or what test or tests you had done. For peace of mind, I recommend going to a men's sexual health clinic for evaluation and advice. Any appropriate testing will be ordered.

Both and neither: There is marked variability in the symptoms of HIV. Rashes can occur at any stage and may not occur at all. If you have any doubt, get tested. God forbid, you test positive, there are effective treatments.

Scarlet Fever: Due to toxins produced by streptococcus pyogenes, the rash is red, with slight elevations of parts of the skin producing a sandpaper like feel, and the redness blanches with pressure.  There is usually pallor around the mouth.  The rash can involve most of the body, often beginning on the trunk.

Rarely: Rarely, shingles can recur and do not have to be in the same spot. The pain and burning precede the rash, and follow a nerve distribution. It can occur anywhere.

i noticed that i develop skin rashes when i consume gluten.i have no other symptoms other than that.does that mean i have celiac disease? can it be a mild form of it?or maybe can it be just gluten intolerence? what symptoms does celiac disease cause?

: Gluten is but one component in the complex structure of several grains. In celiac, consumption triggers antibodies that mostly attack the gut lining leading to cramping/diarrhea/pain. You are more likely to have a simple allergy to some of these items, not celiac. Blood tests that show specific antibodies in a person consuming gluten help define celiac. Intestinal biopsy is the standard for dx.
