No: 1. Novocaine is no long used in dentistry.  It has been replaced by lidocaine, articaine, mepivicaine, prilocaine, and bupivicaine.  
2. None of the dental anesthetics above have been shown to clinically cause irreversible nerve damage.  If a patient experiences prolonged numbness from an injection, it is mostly likely due to the needle touching the nerve and not from the anesthetic itself.

Unlikely: This would not be common.  The sciatic nerve is a very deep structure and injury from im injection would be difficult unless the patient is very thin.  The location if im injection in the gluteus is often in the upper outer region well away from the nerve.

had bilateral piriformis injection 4 days ago. a lot of pain on thigh left side after injection. should i be concerned of post injection nerve damage?

Bilateral Injection: Sometimes the body responds to injections differently. There may be some swelling in one and not the other. Nerve symptoms would be shooting pain to the leg. If so then go back and see the physician that injected you.

can a botched botox injection cause permanent nerve damage? i am thinking of getting botox in my forehead.  should i be concerned that injecting a toxin like this could possiblye cause permanent nerve damage?

Injection : Injection of Botox in a prescribe manner as approved by the fda should not cause permanent injury to a nerve unless the nerve is pierced or transected by the needle (highly unlikely).  Botox works by permanently inactivating the junction between motor nerves and the muscle they innervate.  This causes a transient paralysis of the muscle leading to a smoother appearance, or, in the case of temporal headaches, relief from pain.  Recovery from the effects of botox, usually in 3 to 4 months depending upon the dose and location, occurs as new nerve endings reconnect to the muscle allowing it it function again.  There are some case reports that repeated injections can cause permanent relaxation of the muscle.

Injection may have : hit the sciatic nerve. . Continue to work out; however, very important to communicate this issue to treating physician. Exercise is not an issue. You must be re-checked.

Nerve pain: An electromyogram and nerve conduction study can identify the cause of the burning in the foot. There are a battery of blood tests that range from B12 levels and thyroid function to blood sugar and inflammatory markers to test for neuropathy. See a neurologist for evaluation and treatment.

had gynae surgery took approx hour/hour half. now have peroneal nerve damage could surgery be the cause. having  injections in foot no other illness.

Complex: Peroneal nerve damage in the leg can occur after surgery, particularly in cases using stirrups. This should not however have anything to do with infections in your foot. The nerve injury is also hard to diagnose, and even it is is injured, it is usually temporary. May take several months to get better. I would see your surgeon for a more complete evaluation. Neuroma: You may be suffering from a neuroma due to long history of improper footwear or prolonged weighbearing. Need to see a podiatrist for further exam and treatment.

Neuropathy : Neuropathy may not be seen on MRI. Especially of small distal nerves. Symptoms may be consistent with tarsal tunnel compression. Recommend seeing physiatrist (PMR medicine) or podiatrist.
