Complication are : Infrequent.Infection a small number of people can develop an infection with a total hip replacement this complication can require further surgery to remove the prosthetic components and clean out the joint along with a course of antibiotics lasting six to eight weeks

Unknown: The type of nerve injury affects the recovery rate.  Whether it is stretched, bruised, cut, or otherwise damaged affects the recovery.  Nerves regenerate slowly after damage and generally "regrow" an average of 1mm/day.  So depending on the location of damage and how far to regrow can determine length of recovery.  In some cases, they never recover fully.

None really: But exercise may assist your rehab after the surgery is completed.  The sciatica is possibly an associated hip issue due to involvement of pyriformis syndrome, but may be due to degenerative back issues, so this needs to be also specified.  No easy answers here.  Best of luck.

had facial nerve decompression surgery almost 17 years ago i have pain/tenderness even hurts to lay my head on a pillow at times. maybe a couple times per year with no apparent reason for it. hip replacement coming, will i have similar pains?

Speak to your doc: Perhaps they will give you an alternative pain killer. I would also recommend you ice as much as possible. Keep yourself well hydrated.

Uncommon: If your sciatic pain has been going on for 8 months, you may be dealing with a herniated lumbar disc and an MRI of your lumbosacral spine would be worthwhile for evaluation and treatment decision. You could consult a neurologist or neurosurgeon first.

how soon after hip replacement can i have another surgery like liposuction? i can't have the lipo first due to emergency hip replace needed

6 months: At least 6 months. The person you want to ask that question is the orthopedic surgeon doing the hip replacement. He/she should make the call. Also, the ortho doc will probably cover you with antibiotics to prevent infection of the hip replacement. Also make sure the liposuction doc knows about the hip replacement.

Physiatrist: I would recommend seeing a physiatrist. These are doctors of physical therapy. I would also consult your surgeon and possibly get a second opinion.

what could be the reason why my right leg collapsed under me?  it happened twice, once in december and again yesterday in feb. i had a hip replacement 10 years ago.  it is the same leg that collapsed twice.  i don't know if there could be a link.

Important : Important things to know is if you are having pain in the hip, leg, or knee on the affected side? Do you hear any noises in any of the above mentioned joints? Regardless, when your leg collapses it is usually due to a problem in the tendons or ligaments that support a joint. You could also have a problem with the hardware in your hip. You will need to see your doctor for an evaluation of this problem, which will include an examination and imaging studies (x rays and possible an mri).
