Not safe: Manipulations of the spine without a diagnosis or proper training is very ill advised and potentially damaging.  Visit your physician or an orthopedic specialist who will make a diagnosis of your problem and then order appropriate treatment which may include a course of physical therapy.

Worrisome: Acute pain in neck &amp; pain radiating to both arms raises concern for cervical spine integrity. If a mechanical neck injury has occurred, then urgent evaluation is indicated as are imaging studies to rule cervical spine disorder that is impinging the spinal cord &amp;/or cervical nerves transiting to the arms. Is very serious if either arm is weak.

Neck pain: It still could be muscular, coming from on of upper back muscles most likely rhomboid muscle or from inside your neck, see physical therapist in your area, if therapy won't help you need an MRI i consult with pain doctor in your area.

See below: Sounds like muscle spasm to some degree.  I would also question if MRI showed disc degeneration and/or facet joint inflammation in which case you might benefit from facet joint injections.

Start PCP: Start with your primary care physician.  Depending on the history and physical they may refer you for additional diagnostics such as x-rays or an mri.  The next step is usually an orthopedic specialist. Conservative care usually involves modalities (heat/ice/ultrasound), gentle physical therapy and non-steroidal anti-inflammatories. Good luck.

Reflux?: A 36 year old female with a knot in throat and slight cough, with neck and upper back pain. All these symptoms could be due to GER (gastroesophageal reflux). The symptoms also could be due to post-nasal drainage. Please see your primary health care provider for further evaluation.

i woke up this morning with severe neck and upper back pain and it is difficult to turn my neck, my right arm tingles. this happened before a year ago, and i could only resolve it with a chiropractor that adjusted a displaced bone in my neck.

Neck pain : As a chiropractor and doctor of internal medicine, I can't  tell how important a good examination is to understand your condition.  Chiropractors treat "subluxed" joints not displaced bones. I am concerned you have an inflamed nerve in your neck that may be from a displaced disc.
