Synthetic thyroid: Both work well but you need to calculate  dessicated thyroid differently than  synthetic. Speak with your md or an endocrinologist.

i have hypo-thyroidism, i take 150mg of synthroid, (thyroxine) i have gained 30 pounds in almost 2 months. how can i safely lose the weight as fast as possible?

Weight Gain: Certainly Thyroid may be causing some of your issues too.  Safely, exercise and dieting with decreased carbs and fats will make you lose, if you burn more calories than you take in, you will lose weight. If you are unable to lose, discuss with your Dr. as approved weight loss meds ar available, but they need to monitored regularly by the Dr., and used with an exercise program and diet as well.

should a person with hyper thyroidism take typical thyroid  medication  like synthroid (thyroxine)?

Usually not: Usually, a person with hyperthyroidism has too much thyroid hormone in her body. One would take Synthroid (thyroxine) (synthetic hormone) to make up for a lack of enough thyroid hormone due to HYPOthyroidism. A person with HYPOthyroidism who becomes hyperthyroid due to taking too high of a dose of Synthroid (thyroxine) might be asked to take Synthroid (thyroxine) (at a lower dose) even though she is temporarily hyperthyroid.

why would your thyroid become enlarged if your already on levothyroxine and medicine has been properly adjusted. ?

Several reasons: The thyroid can enlarge due to incorrect replacement, inflammation or from nodule formation. See a qualified endocrinologist.

Painful thyroid: You need to be examined by your doctor and you will probably need some x-ray imaging.

See below: Make sure your TSH levels are being monitored and you are on the proper amount of levothyroxine. Just eat a healthy diet with proportionate amounts of carbs and protein. Exercise at least 40 minutes 3-4 times per week.

Thyroid medications: are often of significant importance to your overall health. If you have been off the medication for an extended amount of time you will need laboratory and physical evaluations and then probably restarting the medication. If you can't reestablish with your previous health care provider you should find a new one or perhaps find a local clinic.

YES.: The reason your thyroid measures normal on recheck is because of the daily supplement you have been taking to replace what your thyroid gland is not producing.
The normal test means you are on the correct dose and need to keep taking it.

Diet and exercise: Supplementing with thyroid hormones will actually prevent you from gaining weight that could be caused by low levels of thyroxine. Check with your 1ry doctor or endocrinologist to make sure your levels ae adequate.
