what is a good home remedy to remove ear wax?

Soften it: Putting drops of hydrogen peroxide into each ear canal 2-3 times per week can keep the wax very soft. This way it will come out of the canal on its own over time. And never go digging with cotton swabs. You will wind up pushing more wax into the canal and creating nice wax bricks.

See an ENT: please have your ears evaluated by a board certified otolaryngologist who will be able to examine your ears and remove the cerumen under direct vision

Ear wax: You can use hydrogen peroxide to loosen and clear the wax from your ears. Since wax is produced daily, the peroxide can be used indefinitely

Variable: Once cerumen has filled your ear canal, it is unlikely it will clear naturally. Although cerumen naturally clears in most people, some may need doctor's help on a regular basis due to genetic and anatomical reasons. Do not use q tips!

See doc if no help: It may take several days for home remedies to work. If a week or more has gone by without help it's probably time to see a doc. Could be: Other causes could be acoustic neuroma which can be seen by an mri. Hardening of the arteries in the area close to inner ear can be the cause.

Never use QTIPS!: The use of QTIPS to “clean” the ears often causes micro-trauma to the ear canal and actually impacts the wax instead of removing it.  The itching can occur from the damage or as it heals.  Wax is there for a reason and is best left alone.  If it bothers you, try cerumenex over the counter to remove.  If you have drainage from the ear canal or pain, you may be infected and should be seen.

i can see balls of ear wax in both of my kids ears. its almost blocking the entire ear hole. it doesnt seem to be bothering either of them, but should i take them to a doctor for removal? of so, what kind of dr? or leave well enough alone?

: You can tease out what you can grasp with tweezers if the kid will sit still. There are several OTC wax dissolving ear drops you can find in drug departments &amp; use as directed. The wax itself is inert &amp; doesn't hurt anything. Keep the kid from using Q-tips that just push it in further. If nothing helps, see their doc.

how do i remove impacted ear wax?

You don't: Impacted ear canal wax is not so easy to remove.  If it has been documented that you have such a problem, using hydrogen peroxide 4 times a day for a week will usually liquify the wax so it can easily be irrigated with warm water.  An ENT doctor is the most experienced doctor to evaluate this problem.
