It, and another oral medication, skelid, (tiudronate) and the intravenous medication, reclast, (zoledronic acid) are chemically related to fosamax.

Yes : Resistant exercise is important for bone health. Sufficient calcium and vitamin intake are also important which can be obtained from food as well as supplementation. For those with osteopenia or osteoporosis, medications such as fosomax may be used. Once monthly oral formulations of similar product is available. A once yearly injection form is also available.

The bad side effects include a 1 in 1000-5000 chance of getting a hip fracture in the middle of the thigh bone(femur.)  there is also and increase in osteonecrosis of the jaw bone (death of the bone) especially in those who have poor dental hygiene or who have dental surgery taking fosamax (alendronate).

No...: Fosamax (alendronate) increases the possibility of developing osteonecrosis of the jaw, which is the "death of bone" in your jaw. I suppose you could say that is a TMJ disorder.

With lots of water: you can continue the fosamax (alendronate) as you usually do.  The medications should not disrupt each other.  That said, if you stoped the fosamx for a few days it would not make much difference
