Need more info: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, these results are not that far from normal. Why was bone marrow examination done? Do you have any symptoms?

i am currently going through chemotherapy and my blood work yesterday showed that there are immature cells with the following info:
metamyelocytes:	3%
myelocytes:	4%
wbc: 5.8
what does this mean and is this something i should be concerned with?

Clinical context: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, if you were not being treated with chemo, it would not have been of concern.

hx of sle. taking cellcept (mycophenolate mofetil).  cbc in december showed slightly elev myelocyte. yesterday i had 3% metamyelocyte seen. what's the next step? bone marr bx

Consider infection: Although SLE and Cellcept (mycophenolate mofetil) are associated with low white cell counts and even left shifted white counts with metamyelocytes and even myelocytes (and this could well be what is happening to you), one must also worry about infection which is more likely in an immunosuppressed patient like yourself. Do you have fever? You should see your rheumatologist and even a infectious disease doctor if febrile.

: The presence of immature white cell precursors(Myelocytes and meta myelocytes) is not entirely normal unless there is serious infection which is causing high white cell count(WBC). So I would recommend that you obtain a complete blood count(CBC) and differential count which will give us a better assessment of your health and to rule out any chronic infectious or inflammatory condition.

Metamyelocyte: Metamyelocyte's are not normal in blood counts.  Sometimes it happens when there is infection or bleeding because of overproduction of bone marrow. If persisting it is abnormal you might need checked out by a hematologist and might need a bone marrow biopsy.

That depends: This may simply be you, you may have an infection, this may be a lab error, or this may be trouble. Your physician knows how to interpret this.

More info needed.: Unless the blasts have been present before, this would be a concerning finding.  You should discuss this with your doctor and understand what is going on and what the trend in your counts has been..  Myelocytes are a less mature form of white cell and can be seen under a variety of conditions.

Myeloblasts: Leukemia often leads to Anemia, low platelets and changes in white cell count(high or low) and circulating Blasts in the peripheral blood or some components of the above elements.
