More details please: Let me try to help. Does your wrist hurt only with pressure?  Is the pain more on the palm side or back of the wrist? Does it swell and  has the joint stiffened up?  Try to give me as much detail as possible and let's see if i can narrow it down for you. Thx.

Hard to say: Need more info...INJURY????? You may have a GANGLION CYST which is a common wrist condition and early on (before you can "see it") may hurt when you put pressure on your wrist!

In any case you need to see an ORTHOPEDIC or HAND Specialist however your PCP may want to order an MRI first.....check it out!

?: Several possible reasons 
arthritis /  tendinosis or even a fracture  are a;; possibilities 'if this problem continues it would be best to seek attention from an orthopedic surgeon.

FIRST OF ALL: the wrist DOES NOT ROTATE...it flexes/and extends  TWO DIRECTIONS only..JOINTS like the wrist CRACK because they have YOUNG CARTILAGE LINING them ! THIS IS NORMAL! 
Stop doing what you are doing and "testing" by putting pressure on the joint!

Some thoughts: without an exam, I can only give general information. Overuse of an area can cause pain that resolves by rest/aspirin like drugs or changing the type of work one does. Carpal tunnel is one condition that causes pain in the wrist in which  surgery often is quite helpful.

How long?: If this interferes with your life , gets progressively worse, or ability to do things, you should see your doctor.  Otherwise I would just try NSAID (preferably topical -need Rx) whenever needed.

RICE: For musculoskeletal sprains &amp; strains, Rest, Ice, Compression &amp; Elevation can relieve pain &amp; swelling, prevent re-injury &amp; allow healing to begin.  While an X-ray can evaluate for fracture or dislocation, it can not show sprains.  Try not to use the joint, elevate above the heart, use an ace wrap to compress, with an ice pack on top of the Ace to protect skin from cold damage.

Get examined: 8 months of wrist pain would suggest a wrist problem that may not improve without specific treatment.Tendinitis(de Quervain's),cartilage tears(tfcc),ganglion cysts,wrist ligament injuries(scapholunate ligament) are just a few of the problems which could be causing your persistent wrist pain.See an ORS for a detailed history,physical examination and xrays.Good Luck!

X rays.: It is unclear as to the exact cause. If you have had a wrist injury it may not have healed or you could have a traumatic arthritis. See the ortho doc and get films done.
This will be a definitive answer.

Need exam: If your pain continues see an ors for evaluation. Not sure from your history where your pain is exactly in your wrist, but it could be several different things( tfcc, scapholunate ligament injury, etc).A good physical exam would lead to a diagnosis. Best of luck.
