whenever i move my left shoulder backwards, my shoulder clicks. my right shoulder doesn't click -- only my left one. what does it mean? is it serious?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily : If you are not having any more trouble than that, it is not likely serious.  You may have a subtle instability in the shoulder that clicks.  If it causes you more problem, don't hesitate to be seen.  A detailed exam would likely determine the cause.

my right shoulder clicks constantly when i make a repetitive movement with my arm, the actual click isn't painful but i have had pain in nearby muscle?

Bursitis: It sounds like you may have a bursitis with inflammation. This typically results in some scar tissue and the typical clicking with movement. If it is not painful than it is not a problem, if it is painful then sometimes a steroid injection my help along with physical therapy. In any case, an MRI would be needed to make the final diagnosis.

fell of motorbike onto left shoulder5/6 months ago shoulder was x rayed was no break, couldn't lift shoulder for few weeks , now pain has gone but is brought on when say if i'm lifting all day it will start clicking/snapping and will hurt ?

Shoulder issue?: You could still have a shoulder issue despite the unrevealing Xray. Things like labral tear, rotator cuff tear or AC joint separation.  An MRI would be diagnostically useful at this point.

hi, after playing games for long sessions; my left shoulder (the back top of it) would start to hurt. this is the arm to use to press wasd. i use both to type, and only my right arm to click. why?

: Seems you are overdoing the games you play, reduce the duration and intensity to a level where you do not hurt after the activity. You can try local heat and otc ibuprofen for a few days too. good luck

i fell on my left shoulder months ago. didn't hurt but now everytime i rotate my arm i heard a click sound on the joint. is it a dislocated shoulder?

No: A dislocated shoulder would cause immediate severe pain that would only resolve after the shoulder was reduced back into the joint.  It is more likely that you damaged something within your shoulder when you had the injury.  If you tore your genius labrum, for example, it would cause similar symptoms.  Don't hesitate to be seen if you are having trouble with it.

hello,why when i sleep on my left shoulder i hear click or pop sound and then shoulder seems to go out of place,i have no problems moving or pain with that shoulder,but when it pops out,it actually hurts if i sleep in that position.is that serious?

Shoulder pops: There are various causes of a shoulder popping. These include rotator tears, arthritis, bursitis or tears of the labrum, or other tendon pathology. A consultation with an orthopedic specialist with a special interest in shoulder problems would be worthwhile. Appropriate tests will be ordered.

whenever i go boxing my left shoulder gets a dull ache on the right side (the side closer to my nipple) and will start clicking only when it hurts like it's catching, then goes after resting it for a week. what is this?

: Activity related shoulder pain could be related to the rotator cuff tendons, the labrum, or the biceps tendon. If pain persists and limit your activity would be a good idea to have it checked out.

left shoulder hurts when raised. has clicking sound sometimes, hurts to sleep on. sometimes get pins & needles down arm to fingers. x-ray & ultrasound clear. neck on and off pain but doesnt feel related as feels deep in shoulder. what could it be?

: Possible emerging impingement problem such as adhesive capsulitis or rotator cuff tear.  But alternatively, there may be a problem within the brachial plexus.  Testing for hypothyroidism and diabetes plus MRI of shoulder might be approaches.  If no answer here, EMG of arm might be done to assess thoracic outlet.  First, consult with orthopedic surgeon.
