Bursitis: It sounds like you may have a bursitis with inflammation. This typically results in some scar tissue and the typical clicking with movement. If it is not painful than it is not a problem, if it is painful then sometimes a steroid injection my help along with physical therapy. In any case, an MRI would be needed to make the final diagnosis.
