Chronic hpv: Treatment of the cervical cancer does not necessarily eradicate hpv infection. Hpv infection can exist chronically and be transmitted even if there are no symptoms present. There is an hpv vaccine you may want to learn more about.

: Please get repeat PAPs as advised by your doctor. There is long enough latent period for carcinoma of the cervix to develop and regular PAP smears will protect you.

Not always: It depends to degree of dysplasia and if cancer is found stage of cancer. If there is hpv involved there is always risk of transmission.

Years: Cervical cancer is slow developing disease. After exposure to HPV it can take up to 10-15 years for cervical dysplasia to develop into cervical cancer. In your case it is not likely that cancer is the cause of mid cycle spotting which is a very common problem.

i suspect i have high risk hpv vires infection.in the future,my wife will have a pap test if she is 30 to 65 years old, but if her cervix is healthy,should she still go for a palvic exam for the rest of her life to diagnose vaginal cancer? help me?

: She should get PAP smear examinations, yearly. Her doctor may reduce the frequency of testing if she tests normal for three years. She should get HPV vaccine.

last pap smear 6 months ago was all fine but hpv (58). i have it probably for years. if i continue doing pap smears every 6 months for the rest of my life and treat any changes that may occur, are my chances of developing cancer (almost) zero?

: Yes. If your PAP smear result are normal, doing it every 6 months would be overkill. Yearly ones would be more than adequate. Once you have three consecutive normal PAPs, your doctor may reduce the frequency of testing to every three years.

Atypical: cells are those cells that have abnormal appearance on cytology, usually caused by infection.  It is not cancer.
