Scar tissue/hernia: If the area of your body where the ovary is located hurts when you cough it may mean that you have internal scar tissue.  This is especially true if you have had previous surgery in the pelvis including a cesarean section.  It may also suggest a heavier ovarian cyst on the affected side.  A hernia of the bowel may also be the culprit.  Get it checked out!

i seem to have thrush but i also have lower tummy pain, blood stained discharge and my left ovary is hurting especially when i cough?

Go for major dx: A UTI can cause lower and discomfort and may be part of the picture.  The discharge may be incidental but there is a chance you have an infection of the uterus.  Thrush is an oral candida infection and likely not related to this but i think u need to get seen.  I place my bet on a uti, but not there to examine so don't give it too much weight.  Also, do a upt.

Neuritis: Pain in the lower abdomen that is exacerbated by coughing or lifting is commonly an abdominal wall neuritis and not usually the ovary (unless it is quite enlarged).  Try a heating pad and if the pain improves even a little while the heat is on this means it is fairly superficial pain and not deep down in the area of your bowels or ovary.  Neuritis pain will resume after heat pad removed

crampy and gassy for a few days, but it passed until last night when it started again. now there is pain in area of left ovary. hurts to cough or push on area. relief when passing gas or moving bowels. not constipated. more dairy lately.

Left ovary pain ?'s: At age 59, usually menstruation has stopped (average age 54) but your ovaries are still producing estrogen as the pituitary is producing much more stimulation of the ovaries , which may lead to an ovarian cyst which can cause the pain.  See your gyn for a pelvic ultrasound to determine the cause.

Unsure why: If this is a new development and only lasts a few days, it may be related to a normal ovarian cyst.  Ibuprofen or tylenol (acetaminophen) is ok to take in the short term.  If the pain is severe or if this has been going on for more than  a few weeks, then you should be seen by your gynecologist for an exam.

what could possibly cause my left ovary to hurt? i could feel my lymph node on my vagina when it swells. even when i laugh or cough, it hurts bad.

Possibilities..: How can you be certain it is the ovary?  Also you should be evaluated for an inguinal hernia which is not common in women but still a possibility.  If both pains on the left you might be mistaking lymph nodes and ovary for a hernia.

my boyfriend and i are trying to get preganent. recently when i cough i get a sharp pain in my left ovary. what would cause this pain?

Possible ovulation: If you have an ovulatory cyst (normal) on the ovary it may be a sign you are close to ovulation, and it can be painful.  Of course there are other reasons for ovary pain and if it persists you probably need a sonogram to asses it.  You might check an ovulation predictor kit to see if you are ovulating and fertile.

Need to see a Dr: If you are known to have a cyst on your ovary and your pain has suddenly worsened, this could mean that the cyst has twisted. This is called ovarian torsion and can be a medical emergency. There could also be an abscess developing in the ovaries or fallopian tubes as well. You need to either go to ER or see your family physician to get blood tests and an ultrasound scan done

Ovary: Causes for ovarian pain include cyst (simple and complex), torsion or twisting, or infection.  A uterine fibroid can cause pain that mimmics ovary pain.  Other possibilities include diverticulitis, kidney stone disease or colitis. Sometime even a back problem can refer pain to the area.

Pelvic Pain: It may not be the ovary that is hurting. The belly does not always tell the body directly where the pain is coming from. Thus, left pain can have its source somewhere else. It can seem like your ovary is the source but it may be something else. Common other things can be GI pain, back pain, other pelvic organs, etc. An evaluation with a doctor may help determine the source.
