sprained my ankle. work in a nursery and painful to walk, finding it hard to work as it's a very active job. what should i do?

Rest: You need to be resting your ankle either with a brace or actual rest. Your doctor can write you a not for limited duty to give your ankle a chance to heal. If you over use your ankle during the injury it can prolong the healing time or worsen the initial injury.

i sprained my ankle a week ago. the pain started as excruciating but now it's just swollen, feels numb and achey. almost like it needs to pop. my job requires a lot of walking and i have a brace & follow the rice method. when should i see a doctor?

Maybe this week: A simple ankle sprain should be better after 1-2 weeks. If not better, a primary care doctor, sports medicine doctor, or orthopedic doctor can evaluate to see if there is something more serious than a simple sprain. X-rays may or may not be needed at the first visit. One should avoid using the ankle too much until the doctor is able to examine it. Some physical therapy and ankle retraining helps.

Yes and x-rays: If you can not weight bear, then you need to be examined and have x-rays to evaluate for fractures and signs of a severe sprain. A boot and crutches will likely be a prescribed treatment entity for you.

It depends: What type of work do you do? Stand? Sit? How severe is the sprain. If they require time off they would also require it being seen. If you have done so then the treating doctor would answer it. If not checked. General answer is anywhere from 2-6 weeks depending on severity hope this helps.

i rolled my ankle today, and looking at foot anatomy its where my cuboid bone would be. i have swelling in that area. my ankle feels fine but more of my foot. hours later i can barely walk on it. ever soon sprain. herd slight pop noise?

: It is possible you subluxation of cuboid bone. Test for this is to try and make a circle with your foot clockwise and counterclockwise. Compare to other foot. If unable to complete circle is Pathognomonic for subluxation of cuboid. If it is subluxed then you need to fined a podiatrist or DO doctor that knows how to manipulate the foot

can i sprain my ankle by placing it in a chair on its side w/ my other foot on top? or does it hurt for another reason? it has been hurting for a few hours and it hurts to move it and walk on it have i twisted it or something?

Yes, : Yes, that could definitely sprain your ankle.  If you have swelling or persistent pain though be sure to be seen for an x-ray to be sure it isn't broken (fractured).

Start with an eval: Recommend that you see your neighborhood podiatrist for a thorough assessment. Once cause is determined - a treatment plan can be developed. Take care.

If no Fx: No fx ; minimal pain, it seems as though it would b ok, ; assuming u have been evaluated by an ortho or podiatrist. If very painful use aids, as cane or crutches. If in doubt ask ur treating physician.

Walk on sprain: I have seen patients that think they only have a sprain and they also have a fracture.  I strongly advise an evaluation and x rays to be sure you do not have  a fracture .  Better safe than really sorry
