Need xray: If you have had trauma to your hand, it is swollen and you can't move parts of it then it is likely that you have a broken bone. The only way to verify this and get treatment is to go to your doctor, an urgent care or emergency department. Please do this right away.

See ORS: Sprains of the finger joints are common and can cause persistent swelling esp. For months after an injury. See an ors for evaluation and x-rays to make sure there is no old fracture, etc.Pip joint sprains can 'last' a long time but generally improve up to a year after injury . The joints , however, may always stay a bit bigger than normal. Good luck!

Swollen hands: Those symptoms (while very general) may be a sign of an underlying rheumatologic condition - like arthritis.   You might try taking an anti inflammatory medication like Ibuprofen with some food at bedtime and see if that helps.   You might also ask your doctor to do some blood testing looking specifically for inflammation and signs of arthritis.

Assessment needed: And fairly urgently as may have an infection. Other possibilities include arthritis or if injured tendon problem.  Will need a doctor assessment and if diagnosis remains unclear may need tests such as bloods and xrays, scans etc.

More info needed: Are your hands also red?  Any fever?  Any swelling in the hand/knuckle joints?  If it does not go away on its own, should be evaluated by a doctor.
