had a pilar cyst removed december 29th on front of my head. my forehead and eye area are very swollen and my eyes are black and blue. is this normal?

Accepted Answer

Not unusual: This is due to blood seeping down under the skin of the forehead. it looks bad but it is harmless and should settle down in 7-10 days. I am sure your operating surgeon would be happy to see you again if the swelling of the eyes does not settle down in 2-3 days.

why do my veins in my wrists neck head ankles and feet feel tender and swollen. lots of blue veins in my legs both baricose and spider. what causes?

Maybe bad valves : One reason is xs fluid or poor heart function. However at your age if you are in good health and active , poorly functioning valaves in the veins of your legs may cause blood to pool there . This would not explain the veins in .your arms and neck Sometimes normal veins arr prominent in thin people

1 yr 4 month old got hit in the side of forehead by corner of the chair. immediately ther was little indentation and after few seconds it got swollen ?

Bump on the head: Does not sound too serious,  Things of concern would be if he lost consciousness, had a seizure, or was not acting right.  If concerned go to the GP but he should be fine.

sunburnt extremely bad. forehead is swollen and has gotten worse as the day goes on. if i press on it there is an ident from finger. fluid filled.bad ?

Severe sunburn: Sunburn is an injury - damage to the skin.  The skin will swell and get spongy, red and warm.  
Apply cool compresses and take acetaminophen for pain.  
Stay out of the sun and next time, take precautions.  A sunscreen with SPF 30-45 is a good idea.

i have a swollen forehead from sunburn? day 2 and now in eyes too..i have applied alo vera and ice...anything else i can do?

Avoid retrauma: do not re injure this area. Put on a good sun block with either titanium or zinc. No more sun exposure until things calm down continue with what you are doing but keep anything that opens clean and don't pick at any scabs

my son bumped his forehead the other day. he's got a swollen red soft bump it's been three days, should i worry that this could be a skull fracture?

Not likely: You say he bumped his forehead...Usually a skull fracture is more than a bump--like falling out of a shopping cart or high chair on to tile or tree or hitting a wall with some speed.....A skull fracture can have a boggy squishy area over it that appears a few days after the injury. It is not likely. If you are really concerned see your pediatrician.

last question - 4th gen hiv test administered 30, 60, 90, 6 months all negative much like my rpr results,  am i conclusive?  reason for concern is i keep getting forehead rash and swollen armpit lymphnodes.   thoughts?

Talk to your Dr.: Forehead rash could be due to many things- including allergic reaction, mild acne due to hat, etc. Swollen armpit lymph nodes can also be due to many things. Any skin infection, upper respiratory infection, sinusitis, etc. If all those HIV checks have been negative, then you are conclusively not infected with HIV. Talk to your Dr to explore why you have a face rash and lymph nodes.

my daughter is 21 months and i think she got bit by something. she started with a nickel size red spot on side of face and it was a lil crusty. now her whole side of face and side of forehead swollen. i gave her a dose of benedryl  and  now she's sleeping

Pediatrician: This type of reaction to a facial bite is quite concerning and must be evaluated by your pediatrician or emergency room physician as soon as possible. Facial infection, if present,must be treated promptly and appropriately. Hopefully this is just a pronounced allergic reaction to the bite, but infection must be checked for.

Angioedema??: Sounds like angioedema (atypical swelling of the deeper dermal tissues) but it could also be an orbital cellulitis (skin infection) which can be serious. I would have a physician at least see it to determine the severity.
