An unusual ear discharge that is not merely oily wax, can be from deeper in the ear, meaning the middle ear space. A discharge can also be from the canal skin (called otitis externa). The treatment may be different depending on where the waxy stuff originates from. Sometimes occasional use of ear drops can help.

Ear cleaning: You should never insert a cotton swab into your ears as it will injure your ear canal and ear drum. Cotton swabs are not made to be inserted into your ears. You are actually pushing the wax deeper into your ear canal.

can't sleep at all some nights other nights 5-6hrs max and have bad tinnitus. could my sleep deprivation be causing it? can ear wax cause it?
