i woke up with my left ear being numb and feeling clogged, when i lay on one side (because of the pressure) my ear will go numb. usually it goes back to normal within a couple minutes but today its been an hour and its feeling more clogged. help?

: A clogged ear is typically due to eustacian tube dysfunction. this can be caused by sinus infections, nasal infections, allergies and other conditions that result in swelling and blockage of the canal which goes from your ear into the back of your nose. Laying with the affected ear down can cause some fluid to accumulate on that side, in the canal. Try a decongestant and a warm saline nasal wash.

Examination: If your face is puffy, you should see the doctor for an examination. If you have tenderness (hurts when you tap your cheek bone) or fever with this, you may benefit from antibiotics. If it's just fullness and sense of "clogged up" then decongestants like pseudoephedrine and pain reliever like ibuprofen are the usual best treatment.

Otocomb: Otocomb ear drops are quite effective for the treatment of otitis externa(inflammation/infection of the ear canal). Apparently you don't have this problem or build-up of earwax. If you haven't been examined by an Otolaryngologist, see one. If you have already been seen by one, get a second opinion by a neurootolaryngologist at the department of otolayngology at a university hospital near you.

had covid in october, since thenmy right ear is clogged/feels like numb when brushing teeth/continuous noise in ear/the ear pressure is not equalized/q-tip at times helps to unclog it, it gets better/worse, some wax inside. whats the cause? relief?

: There may be wax in the ear canal which conducts sound to the tympanic membrane. The removal may include an over the counter ear wax removal kit. If this does not relieve the chronic symptoms, a follow up appointment with your PCP or with ENT is recommended.
