Inflammation: Blue or purple can sometimes occur if the insect has an anticoagulant when it stings (such as a mosquito).

had a bug bite for like a month now went away but remained as a blue / purple dot a bit raised but definitely not as much as before? its the size of a pen tip, a blue / purple dot from the bug bite?

: If it is resolving, you could watch and wait.  However, the unknown is the nature of the bug that bit you. If it was a tick it would be prudent to see your doctor to determine if you need prophylactic antibiotics.

Tiny bruise: My guess without seeing it is that it is something called a petechiae, which is the doctor word for a very tiny bruise. Many insects inject tiny amounts of venom that can cause decreased blood clotting, and create a tiny area of bleeding like this or an outright bruised area around the bite. If more and more pop up, then need to see doc as petechiae can have other reasons to be present than bites.

Allergy to venom: You may be having an allergic reaction the the bug bit venom.  If it get worse, see a doctor.

Have it checked: Most insect bites cause a small, tender, swollen area which may be red. If a larger area develops, especially if it is blue or black, there is the possibility you were bitten by  something venomous like a spider. Some spider bites can cause extensive skin and soft tissue damage. See a medical professional as soon as possible to have it checked.

You should be seen: After 4 days most insect bites would be long gone.  This one is either very serious or it is infected.  You may still have a stinger in there and or pus that needs removal and you are unlikely to get relief if this does not happen.  Good luck!

Spider bite?: This may be from a spider bite. If there is no warmth or pus at the site, you may try topical hydrocortisone cream.  But if the area gets really inflamed or pusey, an antibiotic may be needed.

diagnosed with cellulitis on my toe from possible bug bite. no visible open areas but still tends to turn purple underneath skin. can i swim in a lake?

Not a problem: Swimming or other physical activities are fine during your recovery from such a bite. Be aware that lakes often contain fecal bacteria from animals that can contaminate any open wound or lead to problems if you ingest the water.

See your MD: Hard to say for sure, but you may have bruised the area by scratching or rubbing.  Have your doctor see you if not resolved one day.  As long as you do not have any breathing problem or allergic findings, thee should be no problem.

my big toe is swollen from a bug bite so i wrapped it. the tip of my toe that was sticking out of wrap is dark purple now. it is painful if touched?

Swollen toe: Seems like you need to see your doctor to have your toe evaluated.  Your toe could be purple because it was wrapped to tightly. Or hemorrhage in your toe. Anyway it is hard to say and someone needs to look at it.
