Yes. But...: Ms causes poor bladder function and retention of urine. This is due to the effect on the nerve supply of the bladder. However, for blood in the urine you need to rule out causes like stones, ulcers, and cancers. This is done by cystoscopy.

Assume there is pain: Though it may be a difficult evaluation my first thought would be the kid has an outlet obstruction of his penis or a urinary tract infection. Putting him in a warm tub bath to pee can relax his belly &amp; may make it easier, but he should be seen to sort this out.
