if i lay down flat for three minutes and take my blood pressure it is 123/86. if i stand up, and remain still, and wait three minutes it goes up to 142/107. is this normal? i'm taking the lowest dose of valsartan daily?

: BP is highly variable. Both these numbers are higher than desired:  123/86 is only slightly elevated but you definitely don't want it near 142/107 most of the time. Keep taking your BP a few times a day, in various positions, and keep a record of the results. When you have several days' data, show the record to your doctor and then discuss possible changes in your treatment. Good luck.

26, obese(bmi 41), bp 117/76. resting heart rate only 54-60. after exercise it hardly raises. had normal ecg/stress test last year. is this normal?

Not necessarily: As your heart rate should augment(increase) during exercise.  In fact, for a stress test to be considered truly diagnostic it is defined by the you achieving a certain heart rate.  If your heart rate doesn't increase either you had non-diagnostic stress test due to suboptimal heart rate levels or have some chronotropic insufficiency - as in an abnormal ability to increase your heart rate.

is it ok to have a sitting bp of 112/76 p. 87 and a standing bp of 80/54 p. 109?

Varying BP: Your fall in your blood pressure and your increase of your pulse when you stand up seems to be due to some volume deficit. If you are dizzy when you stand up, i would go to the er and have your blood taken to see if you have any anemia, or any chemical evidence of dehydration. If you are not dizzy, discuss your BP meds with your physician, maybe their doses can be lowered. Good luck.

my avg bp is 108/72 but drops to lowest 92/56 seen with hr 48 to 54. is this normal please?

It depends: First verify that your readings are accurate. Some digital  machines are not dependable. If you are a young person (under 25) the readings may be ok. If you are older and taking blood pressure medication you may be overmedicated.  See your primary care doctor and bring your machine with you.

Both: They're both normal and they're both legitimate. BP is a dynamic measurement that's changing all the time. It's a concern when the average is elevated over a few weeks. Yours isn't. Stop checking it.

at present my bp is 117/71. will it stay normal if i stop mymedication?

Accepted Answer

Hypertension: If your blood pressure is now in normal range from your medication do not stop taking it.  The medication controls the blood pressure.  It does not fix the condition.  If you stop the medication your blood pressure will go back up.  If you diet and lose weight and exercise sometimes you can lower your blood pressure enough to go off or decrease your medicine.

if bp is 104/48 with 5 mg lisiniprol and 117/70 without medication. do i have to even take med after des?

Depends : On why you were given the rx: but it seems to me , not likely. Speak with the prescriber.

my bp is usually normal to low. yesterday it was a high reading of 145/117. this morning it is 147/127.  what can cause this to happen?

See a doctor: I don&#x27;t know what caused your blood pressure to spike, but I do know that you should be checked by a doctor ASAP. Your history states you have had a transient ischemic attack. Please see a doctor right away, as uncontrolled blood pressure can cause serious complications.

my bp (at rest) is often around 125/83.  sometimes its lower, like 117/79.  is 125/83 bad enough to warrant medication?  i already exercise a lot.

These are : NORMAL readings!.....I would stop "concentrating " on the NUMBERS!
