Spitting Mucus: Hello! Newborns may spit up mucus leftover from amniotic fluid up to 72 hrs after birth but tends to resolve sooner. If the saliva seems excessive, a doc visit is needed to check for issues of the esophagus. Spit up: A little spitting up now and then is fine.  If it appears to be more of a regular occurrence, discuss it with your pediatrician.

is there anything i can give my 7 month old baby so she can spit mucus out thats making her cough?

Accepted Answer

This sucks: If you find any way to teach a 7 month old to "spit", you'll win a nobel prize in medicine. They cannot nor can they be taught to do that at that tender age.  You have to suck it out for them.  If they cough and/or gag on mucous and you can hear it in the back of their throats or in their  mouths, take the bulb syringe for nose sucking and use it in  mouth & throat. This will clear the secretions.

my 9 month old baby started spitting up mucus 3 days ago and has yellow loose stool. he hasn't ran a fever yet, should i be worried?

Mucus: Your child has symptoms of a viral illness.  Use saline nose drops for the mucus coming from the nose. For the loose stools stay on a bland diet consisting of rice, bananas, jello, apple sauce, clear soup, dry toast reduce milk and milk products. Us electrolyte replacement fluids to prevent dehydration.

Need more info: Do not know the age of the baby, what other symptoms may be present, whether she is feeding appropriately, sleeping too much, irritable, or other vital info.  Strongly suggest that you take her asap and be seen by a doctor to make certain nothing serious is going on, or at least call and speak with a pediatrician.

Reflux: This sounds like reflux, a process where stomach contents back flow up the swallow tube through a weak entrance. It happens a lot in some as early as birth, peaks around 3-4 mo &amp; subsides after they spend more time sitting/standing. If it seems to bother the kid or interfere with feeding/growth check with the doc.

Mucous cyst are : Common. They are painless and tend to be annoying than harmful. They can be on the lips, gums, tongue, palate, inside of the cheeks or floor of the mouth( called ranula) they will eventually burst without intervention.Ranular cyst may need surgical intervention if it is affecting feedings

is having a little spit in mucus during the morning a serious cause for concern for a 30 yr old (smoker)? i have stoped for 2 days can i observe more?

Spit in mucus smoker: No it is not cause for concern if there is no blood in it.Smoking causes irritatin of the inner lining of bronchi and that produces phlegm or mucus and most smokers have that in the morning and some throughout the day.It is a good idea to stop smoking as you are only 30 years old.So good decision and stay of the cigarettes.
