Ok: Mucinex (guaifenesin) DM contains Dextromethorphan a cough suppressant and Guaifenesin an expectorant. The combo is used to treat cough and chest congestion caused by common colds, bronchitis, sinus infections. Should not elevate blood pressure. 
Avoid decongestants; names like pseudoephedrine, ephedrine, phenylephrine, naphazoline and oxymetazoline which can increase blood pressure

acetaminophen 325 mg 
dextromethorphan hbr 10 mg
phenylephrine hcl 5 mg
fd&c red no. 40, fd&c yellow no. 6, gelatin, glycerin, polyethylene glycol, povidone, propylene glycol, purified water, sorbitol special, titanium dioxide

mucinex dm has:  
dextromethorphan hbr 30 mg
guaifenesin 600 mg.

40 mg total of dm shouldn't be too much, but caution with phenylep.

Mucinex (guaifenesin) safe: One must first be certain the "congestion" is not due to something serious such as congestive heart failure or pneumonia.  If it's not, then oral fluids, especially hot liquids, humidifier or hot, steamy shower, and citrus fruits can help.  Make sure blood pressure is kept below 130mm systolic; avoid salt; rest and tylenol (acetaminophen) can help.

Yes: As long as your BP is routinely controlled before starting the mucinex (guaifenesin). Decongestants can be problematic for those hypertensive patients who are uncontrolled.  See your doctor for verification.

Not "cause": In reality we do not KNOW the true cause of high blood pressure. We do know many things that will drive it up in a predisposed individual. Considering about 30% of population has HTN, it is fairly common. Smoking and/or any act that stresses the body or mind can drive BP up in someone wo already has HTN or is genetically "ripe" to develop  HTN

Not really: D dimer is a marker of clotting.  Blood clots in the legs and lungs are associated with elevation.  It will also go up with injuries and surgery.  

Blood pressure may go up as a complication of a blood clot in the lungs or because of the injury or surgery, but elevated BP should not cause increase in d dimer, or vice versa.
