Appearnace: Impetigo strep or staph- usually honey combed, crusted, tender
mrsa may be dark in color, may be pustular to start, secondary cellulitis/ redness, no honey combing noted.

Possibly: If you are taking an antibiotic that is not effective against mrsa, the bacteria will continue causing what ever disease it was causing, i.E sores, abcesses, pneumonia etc..., until the right antibiotic is given.

Not right place: You need the services of an Infectious Disease Specialist.  Ask your General a Practitioner for guidance.  If you don't have a GP call your local hospital or medical society for recommendation.

PROVEN ?: If msra has been the proven organism by culture you would guide treatment by antibiotic sensitivity in the culture as opposed to using a standard drug formula. Also depends on where and severity. Perhaps a simple sulfa drug sometimes combined with a TB drug and sometimes as aggressive as with IV vancomycin.

: Staph (some of which are MRSA) are everywhere in the environment. Some benign forms can be found on newborns within hours of birth from random contact by others. We find is on surfaces people &amp; animals come in contact with. A break in the skin allows an aggressive form to trigger a cellulitis or abscess. Having the kid sanitize or wash his hands more will do more than washing bedding endlessly.

Possibly: If the sore was caused by mrsa, it is unlikely to return after eradication , but the sore could have been due to some other disease and the MRSA was simply of colonizer of the sore.

i was diagnosed with mrsa on wed. i have open sores on my face i work in a healthcare facility and i share phones ect im worried about spreading this?

Spreading MRSA. : While I understand your concern, it’s important for you to qualify if you’re infected with MRSA or colonized with MRSA.  If you currently have an active infection caused by MRSA, then I would think you’d need to be excused from work for the time being.

i drank after someone who had past mrsa infection years ago don't believe they have any open sores presently or since they had in past should i be ok it was one drink by accident or do i need a work up? thanks in advance?

: You do not need any work up and MRSA is more common than you know. It is probably carried by a number of your family and friends; and if you play sports, you have body contact with regularly. We all have bacteria in various parts of body: the skin, mouth, nostril gut. The problem is when they are in places they ought not to be like the blood or they overstep the body immunity to cause disease.

nostril sores. my nephew was at the hospital for something called mars. i looked it up but all i found was mrsa. i hope i don't have either. do i?

Possibly: Nasal sores sounds like nasal colonization and infection with staphylococcus aureus.  This could be methicillin sensitive mssa or methicillin resistant mrsa.  A nasal culture would confirm the diagnosis and the exact organism.  It could be treated with intranasal bactroban(mupirocin) ointment and hibiclens soap showers and shampoos.  If this doesn't work there are oral antibiotics that can be used.

5 sores  on my belly, 1 scab in scalp. scabbed over, puckered & red ring around them. 2 others left scars. mom diagnosis w/ mrsa. i visited. could i have it?

Possible infection: Based on your description, the rash sounds like an infection. However, can't be sure without examining the rash. Best to see your doctor for a definitive answer and treatment plan.
