Yes: An abdominal/ pelvic CT or MRI would give more definitive information if you are concerned about tumor in abdomen and pelvis. Causes for lower back/hip pain are more definitely identified with these same tests.

what test is better for detecting a small adrenal tumor? an mri w/without contrast or a ct? i prefer the mri to avoid the radiation but i have heard that an mri could miss a tumor if it is too small. is this true, or is it just as good as the ct?

CT Scan:  A non-contrast CT is usually sufficient to identify a tumor. However, the addition of contrast (an “adrenal protocol” CT) can add additional information, primarily in determination of risk of malignancy.

can a cervical neck mri miss a brain tumor? i had one recently for a bulge disk and it detected a big sinus cyst. in case i had a brain tumor... would it had also detect it?

May be lower part: of the brain would be visible but not entire brain. So, you need mri of the head separately if indicated.

Best test: An MRI with contrast is the best test to detect a brain tumor.  If the MRI did not detect a brain tumor then it is likely either too small to see or there is no brain tumor.

Yes: Please note that all cancers start as one cancerous cell. A tumor can be too small to be detectable by any imaging technique.

Any symptoms?: Do you have any symptoms? Any test can have false negative results. Unneeded tests can produce false positive results.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex. 
Get HPV vaccine

: MRI would not miss a brain tumor causing symptoms.  Lesions in the brain develop over variable times depending upon disorder.  Why do you think you have a brain tumor?  Have you discussed your misgivings with your doctors?

100% ruled out: You are going to see any tumors in the Central Nervous System (CNS) with a non-contact MRI. Only reason to add on contrast is to assess vasculature and for things related to the vascular system such as small aneurysms.  Tumors are not more easily found by using contrast . Put your mind at ease - you don't have a brain tumor. If still concerned about specific issues,  see neurologist...
