A member asked:

What test is better for detecting a small adrenal tumor? an mri w/without contrast or a ct? i prefer the mri to avoid the radiation but i have heard that an mri could miss a tumor if it is too small. is this true, or is it just as good as the ct?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

CT Scan: A non-contrast CT is usually sufficient to identify a tumor. However, the addition of contrast (an “adrenal protocol” CT) can add additional information, primarily in determination of risk of malignancy.
