Maybe: If it is only on one half of your body (middle of back to middle of stomach)and has blisters in clusters it may be. If its  on both sides it is not.  Check it out with your doctor.

Herpes zoster: Should be fine. Dry them carefully and watch for development of increased redness, pain, swelling and warmth over the area which could signify secondary bacterial infection, but the likelihood that this will happen is very low.  Good luck and hope you are better soon.

i got shingles on both sides of my body from the waist down front and back. i am still dealing with numbness, tingling waist down a year later. help?

Sorry some meds help: It sounds like you have a condition called post-herpetic neuralgia - the nerves where the shingles hid are still sensitive.  It can continue to do so in some people up to 2 years from the incident.  There are several meds in the market for it - check with your doc - they are designed to decrease firing of these nerves.  They do eventually go back to normal.

Less likely: The blistering shingles rash usually appears as a band around one side of your waist area to your back, although it can occur anywhere on your body. You will likely feel a burning sensation or pain in the area before the rash appears. Shingles is less likly without pain.

i am scheduled for zsprint stimulator oct. 22th i had shingles sept. 4th. those sores on back take awhile to go away. my back problem is on my waist and shingles is higher up. can they do it or wd they hv to wait until everything is clear?

: Conventional wisdom here is to wait until all skin lesions have completely cleared. The personnel who would work on your case, including young women who could be pregnant, would not want to be exposed to active herpes virus lesions.

Postherpetic...: Neuralgia. Complication of having shingles. There is no cure, but pain can be controlled with topical capsaicin cream. If this doesn't help, there are other let options which requires a prescriptions. Examples include Lyrica, (pregabalin) neurontin, or class of antidepressant known as TCA. Wish you well.

have shingles for 3 months. what to do? i am titrating off of lyrica. too many side effects. rash around my waist. will it ever go away?

: Do you still have new vesicles (blister-like), open sores, scabs, etc? Or maybe just leftover skin discoloration and maybe scarring, plus pain (post herpetic neuralgia)? If the former (active shingles), you should be on treatment with valacyclovir or similar drugs, and maybe evaluated for underlying health conditions. Keep working with your doctor(s). Good luck.

Agree with Dr, M: Do see your doctor at your earliest as anti-viral treatment can prevent persistent pain, in case it is shingles.

Sciatica pain: sounds like radicular pain from your back, may need to see a medical professional to get checked and put on appropriate treatment plan

when im moving around i have pretty strong pain in my left side/low back just above the waist it feels better to sit its pretty much the only symptom?

Musculoskeletal: This discomfort sounds musculoskeletal rather than due to kidney disorder such as stone or infection. Try resting,apply intermittent cold or heat,rubbing linlment,and,if you can take them,NSAIDS like ibuprofen should help. See your Physician if symptoms persist or if a rash appears(shingles).
