Sounds like Cankers: Canker sores, or recurrent aphthous ulcers are an autoimmune, inflammatory reaction to trauma, medications, and just about any emotional or physical stress you can imagine--worse if they are combined. They are self-limiting (go away in about 10-14 days) and require no treatment. Pain can be controlled by ibuprofen/acetominophen. If no relief, see dentist for laser or chemical cautery for relief.

what causes mouth sores or kanker sores? is it caused by bacteria in your mouth, food you've eaten or by simply not brushing your teeth?

Trauma or viral?: Depending on location, this generally will tell you if your ulcer is traumatic or viral. Recurring ulcers are either herpetic or aphthous. Only a blood test can tell for sure. Herpetic ulcers harbor the herpes virus and are transferable; aphthous are not. Most ulcers will heal within 2 weeks of first occurrence. Consult your dentist for proper treatment.

Trauma: All mouth sores should be gone in 2 weeks. If it is still there be concerned. Always best to check with you dentist first.

Dental evaluatin: See a dentist and get everything checked, including your bite.  Everything going on in your mouth is related  and a good exam with help you. Canker sore have several causes associated with them including stress, trauma, sensitivity to SLS, vitamin deficiency

Trama: Having dental work performed like the procedure to replace a crown can cause some local trama resulting in an outbreak in mouth sores.  This can be from the injection sites, medicaments used, manipulation of tissues, drying of area, etc.  This a reaction by your body to this trigger which cause ulcerations and gingival inflammation.  These lesions will go away within the week.  Gentle care only.

Sores: (1) Let your dentist know about your condition. You may find you are allergic to dental material.  (2) Avoid spicy, or acidic food so as not to irritate sores. (3) Keep your mouth clean at all times. Avoid using much tooth paste as any chemicals may irritate your sores further. (4) Check if you are a mouth-breather--makes sores worse. (5) Anti-inflammatory meds of your choice if you can take them.

Metal taste in mouth: Not sure what you had done, but i would want to know exactly what was done - did you have silver fillings done (which leave a metal taste for  a couple days) or did you  have some bridgework done (that might contain one of several different alloys)?.  I would ask  your dentist for specifics regarding this, just so you know what's going into your mouth - some metals are safer than others.

i just had dental work at the top of mouth and my smile is crooked. i've never had this happen. will it stay that way? please help

Accepted Answer

No: I assume you had local anesthetic. It can take hours to wear off. In the very , very unlikely event a nerve was actually damage during injection, it will also heal back to normal.
