Tiny amount: Monospot tests are frequently performed in offices as a rapid screening tool to detect antibodies to the EBV virus.  A small amount of blood is obtained from a fingerstick and used immediately for testing.

Generally not: It's an acute marker for Mono and usually becomes negative after the infection

Can have more often: Infectious mononucleosis does not give permanent immunity therefore you can have more than once also the mono sot test is only a guide to the disease to be absolutely sure it is to have the titers  for epstein barr tested to be sure it is mono in your case if you had the positive signs and symptoms you have had it twice it surprises my patients also since it is self limiting it is not dangerous.

Depends: What makes you think you have a 9 month active mono infection? Mono is usually limited, with the majority of symptoms resolving by 2 weeks.  The fatigue can lasts for months, but this is a post-infectious issue, and doesn't represent "active" infection.  Chronic ebv symptomatic infection is a controversial topic, and most  of the time misdiagnosed by physicians who don't understand the ebv panel.

Yes: Yes with a negative strep test, this is most likely viral. Why are you taking antibiotics? They are not indicated for a viral sore throat, by the way. Keep hydrated and take motrin for pain are your best treatments.  Feel better! I would discuss the antibiotics with whoever prescribed them!

Mono: Mono is an infection therefore your lymph node will be reactive to fight the infection. So get lots of rest lots of fluids no contact Sports and follow with a primary care doctor in one week.

Mono: Your description of a "white spot on lips" is not suggestive of infectious mono. Most people who have infectious mononucleosis, or mono, get it only once. Rarely, however, mononucleosis symptoms may recur months or even years later. There is no picture to assess the spot for a possible dx, but it may be a Zoster eruption.

i have a white spot on my one tonsil. can it be mono? i dont feel very sick. sometimes tired and light headed

Tonsils pearls ...? : Tonsils are like  a “ filter” , there are like a craters irregularities called “ crypts “. Food  we eat ,  bacteria ... creates white spots imbedded in these crypts . It’s common and no sign of illness or infection. Gargle with salt , maintain good oral hygiene . If fever , sore throat.. than see your doctor.

mono dx by blood tests. no tonsils, but large lump in left tonsillar space. has white spot on it. what is it? will it go away when inflammation goes?

Tonsillolith: This is almost certainly a tonsil &quot;stone&quot; from your tonsil being hyperplastic from the mono. The masses are actually keratin. You can dislodge it with a water pick if you wish.
