A member asked:

I had two positive mono spot tests years apart, with symptoms. can't have mono twice, right? what could have caused the second positive test?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Can have more often: Infectious mononucleosis does not give permanent immunity therefore you can have more than once also the mono sot test is only a guide to the disease to be absolutely sure it is to have the titers for epstein barr tested to be sure it is mono in your case if you had the positive signs and symptoms you have had it twice it surprises my patients also since it is self limiting it is not dangerous.
