can mono cause shoulder and  arm pain?

Unlikely: Shoulder and arm pain are not typical of mononucleosis.  Mono is characterized by sore throat, fever, swollen neck lymph nodes, splenomegaly, abnormal liver enzymes, atypical lymphocytosis and a postitive mono serology.

is it normal to have slight left side and shoulder pain with mono? i know it can enlarge spleen...pain isn't severe, but aches a bit. will i be ok?

Yes: Mononucleosis causes splenomegaly which would cause left sided abdominal pain that can radiate to the shoulder. As long as the pain isn't sudden or severe, then don't worry about it. Expect to start feeling better in a couple weeks though. Get some rest!

: Your history of an infection could have possibly caused the sub clinical hyperthyroidism. I typically repeat the thyroid level 4-6 weeks later to verify. A thyroid physical exam should also be done. Also, if you have family history of breast/ovarian cancer or have concerns with breast lumps/bumps, you are in the age range to consider getting a mammogram to screen for breast cancer.

Follow closely...: Abnormal CBC results need to be followed up closely.  Many times the abnormality is transient, a virus or infection affects it, which the body will bounce back and recover from.  However, if this becomes persistently low,  it will be important to find out what is causing it.  It may be as simple as a medication or supplement you are taking, or require more testing to discover the cause.

i have had neck/shoulder pain/stiffness along with a small lump on the back of my neck for about 11 days (also sore throat). the pain mostly went away after a week, but the lump remains, and now have scalp/neck itchiness. neg mono test/normal xray?

: It may be an enlarged lymph node. You may feel the node every couple of weeks, if the lymph gland doubles in size, becomes painful, ulcerates, or other nodes become enlarged, or you develop fever, or lose weight, you should see a doctor.

Fever, fatigue, sore: Also sore throat,  one may be fatigued have enlarged lymph nodes and feel generally ill and have a rash.  Rarely one can have hepatitis with this. Please get all of the sleep rest and nutrition you can and follow up with your physician.

Mono complications: In very instances one can develop severe hepatitis which can cause death.  Sometime an undetected ruptured spleen can cause death.
