hi i have extremely dry skin on my face and like rash spots mostly on forehead and below eyes i tried biocort and numerous moisturizers but still have it it looks like ezcema what can i use daily has a lotion also to treat and protect?

O3: There are many supplements which have been touted to help increase tear production, glandular function and reduce dry eye symptoms overall. A recent study published in the journal ophthalmology demonstrated omega-3 (fish oil) supplementation has been shown to consistently help with symptoms. Other supplements may work as well, but definitive studies are pending.

will mixing tazorac (tazarotene) with under eye moisture cream help with tightening under my eyes and filling in  wrinkles around my eyes?

A sk dermatologist: Ask your dermatologist before you try it. In any event first apply the moisturizer and 30 minutes later apply the tazorac (tazarotene).

Many causes: Dry eye is due to many internal and external influences:  Age, decrease estrogen, medications, dry winter heat, wind, systemic diseases-sjogrens, rheumatoid arthritis, collagen vascular disease.  Treatment includes artificial tear use, hydration, fish oil supplementation, humidification.  Medication such as restasis.

Start with tears: For dry eyes, it would be best to start with artificial tears.  There are many brands to choose from including systane, refresh, genteal, blink, etc.  For sensitive eyes, preservative free artificial tears can also be used.

my skin has been dry lately. i use moisturizer on my face but the skin around my eyes has been getting dry and irritated too. i tried vaseline but it didnt help?

You may need a: Hypo-allergenic skin cream.  You may be allergic to something in yours.  Please do not use creams that contain alcohol because that drys the skin.  Peace and good health.  Your doc can help.

See Allergist...: 56 y/o says I quit smoking 2 months ago. I have had to give up wearing makeup and using moisturize on my face because I will break out, my eyes will be bloodshot. Sounds like Allergy to one or more of the ingredients in the make up. Also history of smoking may have destabilized the normal sequence of skin repair . Best to see Allergist for evaluation and management at this point.

can ambi daily moisturizer help with dark circles under the eyes?

Possibly: Dark circles are increased pigmentation often from cycles of swelling, from rubbing or allergies, and from and increased concentration of skin due to looseness of the skin in that area. The ambi product or the fading version may slowly help to reduce pigmentation and even the skin tone, but remember the lid skin is very sensitive and prone to allergic dermatitis, which would worsen the circles

is it ok if i use a mild face moisturizer under my eyes instead of an eye cream?

Accepted Answer

No problem: Eye cream is formulated so that it will not sting to much it if gets into the eye but it contains the same type of ingredients as facial moisturizers.  So you can substiute the cheaper facial moisturizer for this purpose with no risk to the eyes and generally good effects.
