no spinal stenosis is appreciated. there is left c3-4 foraminal stenosis related to uncovertebral joint hypertrophy.. can someone explain what this means? its from a ct scan of my neck. ive been having neck and shoulder pain on the right side?

: First, your films show left-sided degenerative changes at C3-4 which may in the future get worse and become symptomatic but do NOT correlate with the "right side" symptoms.  This issue may well involve the brachial plexus, and consideration for thoracic outlet syndrome as an explanation may be salient.  Find a thoracic vascular surgeon or a physiatrist and get an opinion.

: The major nerve roots exit the spinal cord through areas between the bony projections of the vertebrae in the  bony spine. These  exits involve an archlike bone formation like the area under the letter n. The wording implies a hook-like overgrowth  of bone narrows the area allowing the nerve exit between C3-4. What this means in a given case is best explained by the doc who knows the case

Spinal stenosis: This is a condition resulting from degenerative changes in the spine (for you, this would mean the neck). What actually happens is that the bone that protects the spinal cord becomes narrower.  This causes pressure at different points on the spinal cord or nerve roots (causing numbness or other symptoms). : A discussion of these findings should come from the doc who knows the full history, exam and other test results. A simple interpretation of the wording is the size and shape of the bony spine parts result in a narrowing of the opening where the nerves exit from the spinal cord.

Probably not: Surgery not needed for the c-spine or scoliosis.    For the pars defect it would depend on if the spine was unstable.   For the spinal stenosis at L4 L5 physical therapy and injections should be tried before surgery.

Spine surgery: I believe exercise is good for the spine.  I would allow you to play soccer only after physical therapy and proper back education.  The microdiskectomy will decrease the pain you had before, but nw is the time to be smart, rehab the back and slowly return o activity.

Degenerative changes: It sounds like degenerative changes or arthritic changes of the joint (the joint that joins collar bone with acromion or prominence of the shoulder). No outlet stenosis means, there is no pinching or narrowing of a space. I am not sure if they are referring to another part of body, since the term applies to the openings in the joint or tissue that allows passage of nerves and blood vessels.

i have decided against open back surgery. what other treatment options do i have? g1 spondo, l&r stenosis, disc bulge, facet joint hypertrophy.

Depends on a few...: You  can choose to live with the symptoms.  Did you exhaust all non op treatments such as epidural injections, physical therapy, etc..  An x-stop procedure may help if you have mostly stenosis symptoms.  There are some minimally invasive techniques that may have indication unless there are other issues or levels involved.

Depends:  : Can be very problematic with leg and back pain requiring treatment.  It is almost normal for all human beings to have some l5/s1 and l4/l5 facet arthritis and disc disease.  Rarely requires treatment more than core exercises, nsaids, back rehab and other conservative/ fitness training.

May not have-: -enough room. TheC2-3 complex means these is some arthritic spurring with a protruding disk that indents the dural (thecal) sac being indented some, common finding in your age group. C4-5 is the same but is more pronounced so it protrudes enough to flatten the spinal cord.C5-6=arthritic facet joints @this level &amp; severe enough to narrow the canal the nerves exit from. Could B cause of pain R arm.
