my husband was in an accident and hit an embankment. he was taken to er, they said he had a mild reversal of cervical lordosis, mild disc space narrowing at c4-c5, and mild anterior degenerative end changes at c5- c6. can this be caused by accident?

: Muscle strain/pain from the accident can cause a temporary reversal of the normal neck alignment (lordosis). Disk narrowing might be from the accident. Degenerative means age related unless their is a bone disorder.

: In a normal x-ray/CT/MRI of the neck a gradual curve from the back of the head to the back. After a stressful event causes the neck muscles to tighten, the curve is less. By itself it is just the radiologist describing a finding that differs from a relaxed patient.  Radiologists get fussed at if they just say "straightening of the neck or normal variant" .

No: However you may want to see if you have a short leg. Tha t ca cause the neck curve,  also be attentive to your posture.

Not much: If these are your film readings, suggests some early wear and tear degenerative problems , especially for your age.   The films also suggest muscular spasm.  In view of findings, if you have symptoms, find a good physical therapist.

In short it means th: -at you have degenerative disk disease centered around C-4, and as a result of this you have bulging of the disk that takes up room that the nerves pass through. If you have arrm symptoms, this can be a cause. It would be on the right side.  Spondylosis just a long word for degenerative disease of the spine. Treatment should be done by a spine specialist, fellowship trained orthopedist.

I can tell you that most of what you reported is not a big consequence.  The reversal can be seen with a stiff neck. Ca++ posterior to C5 is likely calcific tendinitis. 1mm retrolithesis is too small to worry about. Spondylitic changes are part of aging and degenerative process in the spine and is very common.

Absolutely: Physical therapy can play amazing roles in stabilizing cervical problems.  Massage and acupuncture can help pain and stiffness, but PT will improve range of motion, strength, and posture.  Excellent choice on your part.
